Welcome to the second update on our progress to modernise Brewham Village Hall.
Many of you attended the Consultation Event we held back in February at the Village Hall. We’d like to thank you all for your valuable feedback about the four design options, which we then consolidated into one preferred scheme.
We subsequently held a series of meetings during March and April with our architects including further refining the details and taking on board more suggestions from the Village Hall Committee.
We also applied for some further start-up funding and were successful with bids to The Golden Bottle Trust (part of Hoares Bank) and Somerset Community Foundation. We thank them both.
In late March we hosted a site visit by the South Somerset District Council (S.S.D.C) Listed Buildings Officer, where our architect, Claire Fear, explained how we wanted to upgrade and enhance the Village Hall: this resulted in verbal approval to submit plans.
However, despite the best efforts of all involved, the Hall continues to deteriorate with a number of the damp patches in the walls worsening and a burst boiler pipe just the other weekend.
The good news for the Project however, is that our plans have been submitted for Listed Building approval to S.S.D.C. A decision will be made by June 22nd and we do need Letters of Support please! This can be done online at: https://www.southsomerset.gov.uk/planning-and-building-control/view-a-planning-application-online/ reference 18/1348/LBC. Or by post to Samantha Fox, Planning Department S.S.D.C, Brympton Way, Yeovil BA20 2HT, also quoting the above reference.
The Project Team: Liza Greaves, Cath. Coward, Patricia Stainton, Caroline Rathbone, Nickie Gething, Keith Barclay and we welcome Mary Macdonald-Watson, who joined us in April.
